Donation Acceptance Policy

Any materials (books, videos, magazines, or other gifts) donated to the Marshall County Library System become the property of the Library System.  They are evaluated as to whether or not they fit into our collection before they are processed and put on the shelf for circulation.  If a donation does not fit our needs, it is recycled in our give-away bins, passed on to the Friends of the Marshall County Library for sale to profit the Library System, or stored until an appropriate use can be decided for it.   Any materials which are not in any condition to fit into any of these categories will be discarded to protect the existing collection.
