The famous Philadelphia architect Samuel Sloan was most likely the source for the design of Airliewood. His book, Sloan's Victorian Buildings, is a revison of his original book, The Model Architect, which contains blueprints of buildings and residences, including a Gothic villa similar to the design Coxe built in Holly Springs.
